...because I've spent a LOT of my money there in the last 10 years, and they are treating J like crap.
Today we found out that J is getting demoted. If you recall, they were only giving him 10 hours per week because of budget cuts. So, J tells his boss that his availability has changed. He's still available a whole lot, just not for a few hours on M, W, and Th so he can go to class. His boss' response is: "Well, you'll be getting demoted then, because you have to have open availability to be a shift supervisor" - that is absolute BS because J doesn't have "open availability" now, nor has he EVER.
So now, on top of only getting 10 hrs per week, he's getting an almost FOUR dollar an hour pay cut.
Just fire him. Or lay him off. At LEAST give us the benefit of unemployment and/or insurance extension. Of course not.. that would be the upstanding thing to do. I know that Starbucks has a business to run, is publicly traded, has to watch out for the bottom line, but treating your people like crap doesn't make for great news either.
He is turning in his notice tomorrow. And I'm not buying coffee there ever again. (not that they'll notice)
I am so thankful that we can survive without his income right now but we really could use for DH to have a part time job, so we can pay for O's school, so he can get this certification done, so he can get a "real" job!!! So, I'm praying that one of the applications he has put out there will turn something up soon!!
Now that I'm done whining... stay tuned for an exciting post tomorrow.
If I remember my camera, that is. I think you'll love it. Or throw up. One of those for sure.
